Mathis Azzaro Wins Back to Back Short Track World Cups
The second round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup brought the Origine Racing Division team to Nové Město na Moravě for the first European stop of the season. Across both XCC and XCO, the team delivered another strong weekend of results, highlighted by back-to-back World Cup short track wins for Mathis Azzaro and an impressive World Cup debut from Naël Rouffiac.
XCC
In XCC, Mathis continued his incredible form, taking his second consecutive World Cup short track victory ahead of in one of the deepest fields of the season. Martina Berta fought through health issues to secure ninth place, while Ronja Eible crossed the line in 12th. In the U23 category, Naël Rouffiac made an immediate statement with a second-place finish in his first World Cup appearance of the season.
XCO
Sunday’s XCO races brought another set of hard-fought performances. After a crash and puncture disrupted his race, Mathis battled back to finish 26th overall. Knut Rohme delivered one of his strongest rides in recent memory with a 25th-place finish, while Martina added another consistent performance with 12th. Ronja finished 24th, and Naël capped off an outstanding weekend with third place in the U23 XCO race in his first World Cup XCO appearance with the team.
The team’s bikes were equipped with TRP’s race-proven EVO 12 drivetrain and EVO X brake systems, continuing to showcase their performance at the highest level of cross-country racing. From explosive XCC accelerations to the demanding technical terrain and long race pace of Nové Město, both systems delivered the precision, consistency, and reliability needed to compete on the World Cup circuit.
