The Spyre is a mechanical disc brake that offers superior performance with an incredibly easy setup. This dual piston actuated mechanical disc brake caliper provides precise clamping force. This translates into even pad and rotor wear because the rotor does not need to flex to one side during braking. We added a simple cable barrel adjuster to make fine tuning easy. All of this in an incredibly thin 40mm, 146g package, that works with any drop bar levers on the market. Rotors and adapters are sold separately.

For tandem bikes, we recommend the Spyre caliper paired with our 2.3 mm thick rotors. This will give optimum stopping performance for you and your partner.

FF-5 adapter required for mounting flat mount caliper to fork

  • Dual sided actuation
  • Works with ALL cable actuated road levers. Compressionless (linear strand) housing is highly recommended
  • Comes with TRP ultra-grippy semi-metallic pads
  • Calipers are compatible with Shimano M525/M515 pads
  • 160mm rotors recommended on front wheel
  • Rotors, adapters, and flat mount mounting bolts sold separately
  • All flat mount calipers being mounted to the fork require the FF-5 Front Flat Mount 140/160mm adapter
  • Sold as a caliper only not a set

Huge Upgrade

I got these brakes on recommendation from a bunch of trusted bike friends to replace the absolutely **** stock brakes on my 2023 Topstone 4 (the stock brakes are Promax 330Rs). I got the flat mount and they fit perfectly on my frame with the adapters. Adjusting them was not too bad. The two-piston design really does keep the rotor from flexing when you squeeze the brake, which makes it easy to center the caliper properly. The barrel adjusters work smoothly and easily.

My one complaint about these brakes is that the pad adjusters are *very* difficult to turn. They require a 3mm hex wrench, but the actual bolt the wrench turns is sunk down pretty deep into the body of the caliper, and it's just about impossible to actually get the wrench to seat in the bolt correctly to turn it and adjust the pad. Most of the time I spent futzing with these brakes after installing them was cursing at the pad adjusters trying to get the damn wrench in there to tighten up the pads.

These were awesome. I put them on my go tracks GX2 because the brakes that came on that were noisy. These decreased the stopping distance and our significantly quieter.
