The TRP EVO Pro is a high-performance 4-piston hydraulic disc brake engineered for riders who demand exceptional modulation, stopping power, and heat management on long, steep descents. Its advanced caliper design and large 2.3mm thick rotor compatibility dissipate heat faster than competing brakes, making it one of the best MTB brakes for sustained braking on steep terrain. For downhill, enduro, and eMTB riders facing repetitive high-load braking, the TRP EVO Pro delivers fade-free performance where heat buildup typically causes other brakes to lose power and modulation.

eMTB riders place significantly higher heat loads on brakes due to increased bike weight and speed, pushing most brakes to their thermal limits on long descents - the TRP EVO Pro is built to handle exactly these conditions. Whether you're racing enduro stages, charging downhill tracks, or riding an eMTB on steep mountain terrain, the TRP EVO Pro combines the best of both worlds, blending amazing light lever feel and modulation with ultimate stopping power when it matters most.

Race Tested Performance

"I honestly love everything about the EVO Pros. They offer more power, better modulation, and improved lever feel. The addition of the Pad Actuation Dial is a huge upgrade. Brake feel is the most important part of my bike setup, and with both reach and modulation adjustments, I can fine-tune it to perfection." - Oisin O’Callaghan / YT MOB

FAQ

TRP EVO PRO brakes are high-performance 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes designed for aggressive mountain biking, including enduro, downhill, bike park, and E-MTB riding. They are engineered for maximum stopping power, heat management, and consistent modulation.

Yes. TRP EVO PRO brakes are specifically designed for enduro racing, downhill riding, bike park use, and E-MTB applications. They provide high power output, strong heat resistance, and consistent braking on long descents.

TRP EVO PRO brakes use mineral oil. Mineral oil is less corrosive than DOT fluid, requires lower maintenance risk, and is stable under normal riding temperatures. Only use TRP-approved mineral oil when servicing.

TRP EVO PRO brakes use TRP-specific 4-piston pads and are available in three compound options, each identified by a distinct backing plate color. The resin pad, with a blue backing, delivers the most powerful bite and immediate response. The semi-metallic pad, with a red backing, is the quietest option and provides a balanced blend of power and modulation for controlled braking. The metallic pad, featuring a copper backing, is designed for heavy-duty applications, offering the most consistent performance in wet conditions and on long, demanding descents. You can view these pads here.

TRP EVO PRO brakes are compatible with 2.3mm thick TRP rotors. Common sizes include 180mm, 200mm, 203mm, 220mm and 223mm. Larger rotors are recommended for aggressive riding and heavier riders. View rotors here.

Please refer to our bleed procedure service guide for the full instructions. In general, to bleed TRP EVO PRO brakes: remove the wheel and pads, insert a bleed block, attach a syringe to the caliper port and a funnel or syringe to the lever, then push mineral oil from the caliper up to the lever. Reinstall the caliper bleed screw, purge any remaining air at the lever, seal the system, and clean any excess oil. Use only TRP mineral oil and a TRP-compatible bleed kit.

Yes. TRP EVO PRO brakes are well-suited for E-MTB due to higher power output, improved heat resistance, and reliable braking under increased bike weight. 203mm or 223mm rotors are recommended for optimal performance.

Common causes include contaminated pads or rotors, glazed pads, improper bed-in, or caliper misalignment. Clean rotors with bicycle disc brake cleaner, realign the caliper, or replace contaminated/ glazed pads and/ or rotor.

Ride at moderate speed and apply firm braking without locking wheels. Repeat 10–20 times per brake, gradually increasing force. Proper bed-in transfers pad material to the rotor and improves braking power and consistency.

Yes. They are recommended for riders over 200 lbs (90 kg), aggressive downhill riders, bike park laps, and long alpine descents. Pair with 203mm or larger rotors for maximum braking performance.
